The project entailed the design and construction of a hides conveyor to elevate the wet blue hides up to the fleshing machine at Nakara.The client aimed at a rate of 180 hides per hour.
The conveyor was commissioned mid 2022, if you time the rate, which is adjustable, it goes at 240 per hour. Gaps on the line do occur due to the exchange of the trays at the infeed. Two labourers hang the hides onto each second clamp.One of the challenges was to produce a clamp that holds the slippery hide and yet easily release the hide at the top.
